Another popular outing in Twente: ‘t Stift, a centuries-old Benedictine monastery that also serves as a residence for unmarried women. A peaceful and breathtaking place.
’t Stekkie coffee & tea house
Tip: stop off for a break whilst walking or cycling at the ‘t Stekkie coffee and tea house at Hamsweg 1, Rossum; a lovely spot to relax for a while during your cycle ride or walk, close to the Roderveld nature reserve. ‘t Stekkie is situated along a number of beautiful walking routes, such as the Noaberpad and the Hellingenpad.

Othmar Brewery
The Othmar Beer brewery was set up with the aim of reviving the ancient beer-making tradition around Ootmarsum. Guided tours and tastings are available.

Whisky
Connoisseurs are sure to be in their element in Ootmarsum. Be sure to pop into the Sculte distillery (Oostwal 24, 7631 EJ Ootmarsum), where they produce their own jenever, fruit spirits and whisky, which is matured in Twente oak.
Cosmos Observatory

About a half-hour’s walk from Ootmarsum: Masselink Shiitake Farm, where you can also pick up your own growing kit to cultivate mushrooms at home. How brilliant is that!?
